China – Hong Kong to Yangshuo (Catching Up With My Tour Group)

Now I have my VISA I am solo travelling China to catch up with everyone at Yangshuo.

China seems to have a lot less English speaking people than Hong Kong so everything has become a little trickier.

I had a few issues finding the right counter to buy the correct tickets, but once I got my tickets it was relatively smooth sailing with some help from a local Chinese man I managed to get off at my station and a cab was waiting for me arrange by our tour guide.

Hong Kong – West Hotel and Trying to Sort a VISA

So with the tour, our Hong Kong part is in the west hotel which is so nice to be in after coming from a relatively cheap hostel. Don’t get me wrong the hostel’s purpose was that it was cheap but it is nice to have a bigger bed and some space now and again without having to worry about 5 other people.

So after realising I didn’t have a VISA on Saturday me and the tour guide went off Sunday morning to apply for an urgent VISA and today(Monday) I have picked up the approved VISA!

Next step catching up with the tour in China.

Hong Kong – Tour start and Victoria Harbour

So got to meet the tour group today its a complete mix of people from all over the world and everyone seems to be getting along so should be fun.

The first stop on the tour was to see the light show but this time from the other side.

The views from Victoria Harbour were amazing at night the light show was still underwhelming but a lot better than from the other side.

Hong Kong – Kowloon Park

The Kowloon Park here in hong kong is pretty amazing like a jungle in a city with a swimming pool as well as a sports centre.

There was also a bird aviary, fountains an area with art all right in the middle of the city.

Hong Kong – Orchid Inn Hostel

The Hostel was cheap and clean which is basically all I needed for Hong Kong and at about 100HKD a night you can’t go wrong. The beds were a bit hard and smaller than English beds but I have been told this is the same all over Hong Kong. The hostel sold a version of Pot Noodle at the reception desk for when you’re hungry and can’t be bothered to go far and they had an instant hot water kettle so you could have your food and be eating in 5 minutes.
They also had a fridge with drinks which was especially useful for hungover days.

Hong Kong – Horse Racing and Pub Crawl

Horse racing was a great night starting at a pub for a pint then onto the races.
They had food, beer and betting as well as live music in between and I even managed to win a few races.

Then after the Horses and quite a few beers, we got on the tram and headed to a bar with darts and beer pong.
About half way through the beer pong we worked out the table could be turned on and it would tally the score for you, which was pretty cool but kinda overkill for beer pong.

Then the last bar we went to Carnegie’s unlike most places encouraged you to dance on the bar.

Macau – Casinos

Had to visit Macau whilst I’m near by and as it’s only an hour on the ferry, so had no choice really. It’s similar to Vegas with the massive buildings and the themed casinos, with the differences being the choice of food and in my opinion, it didn’t seem as packed as Vegas but I did go in the day so that most likely changes at night. The Wynn Casino also had a free cable car to get you into the build which saved walking all the way round.

If you have a look at the picture you will notice one of the escalators has a crowd around it this was due to a lady’s heel getting stuck. I wonder if that’s gonna be the casino’s fault or hers? To top the day off I even won some money on the Chinese version of craps(Sic Bo).

Hong Kong – Light Show

Went out to see the Hong Kong light show at The RED roof top bar. The light show was a bit disappointing but walking around Hong Kong at night was fascinating with all the buildings and roof top areas. Even managed to grab a few pints.

Hong Kong – Sai Kung – Four Consecutive Pools and Falls

Started the day at One Dim Sum for brunch and managed to avoid the 45-minute queue as I was on my own.

Then off to meet Gracie a Philipino girl I met who offered to show me the hike to Sai Kung which was an amazing place with swimming waterfalls and cliff diving.

After that, we hung out on the beach and then finished off the day riding the speedboat back.

Hong Kong – Tai O Fishing Village

Did the Tai O hike half way to the beach then after a while headed back to the fishing village to explore. This town was very peaceful near the harbour and very traditional in the main part. Lots of fish for sale and plenty of boat tours for 30hkd available. Hong Kong seems to be really good at having lots of very different atmospheres all in the one country.
